Kathy Bates recently told the world she won a hard-fought battle with ovarian cancer nine years ago. Now, the Oscar winner has revealed that she has undergone a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The actress, 64, told People magazine that she found out several weeks ago that she had cancer.

"After much consideration, I underwent a double mastectomy," she told the magazine. "Luckily, I don't have to undergo radiation or chemo. My family call me Kat because I always land on my feet and thankfully this is no exception."

And Kathy, who is nominated for two Emmys, said she's not going anywhere anytime soon.

"My doctors have assured me I'm going to be around for a long time," she says. "I'm looking forward to getting back to work doing what I love to do."

Back to work for Katie

Katie Holmes is not one to sit around and sulk after a divorce.

The actress, 33, was at New York City's Lincoln Center for her first appearance at New York Fashion Week.

According to Us Weekly, Katie happily met and shook hands with well-wishers after the low-key presentation.

Katie, who recently finalized her divorce from Tom Cruise, showed a handful of pieces from her Holmes & Yang spring 2013 line, the label she shares with pal Jeanne Yang.

Instead of models strutting down the runway showing her line, Katie and Jeanne opted for a presentation, where models stood in place, allowing onlookers to walk around them.

Katie has described the line as "very simple" and "very classic."
