Top Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway told thousands of abortion protesters Friday that the president and vice president are firmly on their side.

"Steps away from here in the White House, a president and a vice president sit at their desks and make decisions for the nation," Conway told the crowd gathered at the annual March for Life on the National Mall.

"As they sit there, they stand here with you," she said.

Conway called the Trump administration a time of "incredible promise" for the anti-abortion movement. Trump has already taken a number of steps to restrict abortion, including reversing the Mexico City policy that bans international aid for groups that provide abortion.

"Their impassioned defense of life as presidential candidates showed a nation that courage and commitment can overcome indifference and insults," Conway said. "Their decisive actions as president and vice president will further this cause."

Conway pledged the White House would support priorities of abortion foes. Trump once opposed abortion rights but said during the campaign that he has changed his mind. He has promised to sign legislation defunding Planned Parenthood and appoint an abortion-opposing justice to the Supreme Court.

"Allow me to make it very clear, we hear you, we see you, we respect you, and we look forward to working with you," Conway said to cheers from the crowd.
