The biggest celebrity news over the holiday weekend was Kanye West announcing during a concert that he and girlfriend Kim Kardashian are expecting.
During his Atlantic City show on Sunday night, Kanye, 35, unexpectedly stopped the music and said, "Can we make some noise for my baby mama right quick?"
But how did these two go from being friends to parents-to-be?
The pair have known each other for a long time and in 2010, there were rumors that they were more than friends when he was helping with Kim's music video, but nothing romantic was allegedly happening yet.
But when Kim, 32, split with her husband, Kris Humphries, in April (yup, they're still married), she started spending a lot of time with Kanye, according to E! News. Then, Kanye's song "Thereflu" had a line about him falling in love with Kim.
"I completely respect and understand that you have to ask these questions. But as I've said before, Kanye and I have been friends for years," Kim told Ann Curry when a relationship question was asked. She then added, "You never know what the future holds or where my life will take me."
From May on, various rumors sprung up about the pair moving in together or becoming engaged or planning their wedding, but they were all false alarms.
But Kim did talk marriage in November. "It's so nice to have a best friend in this game who understands everything you're going through. I can't even think about being with anyone else than the man I'm with." She later said that if the pair does wed, she wants the nuptials to be "on an island with just my friends and family and that's it."
Fast-forward to December and the two are expectant parents. According to E!, Kim is about 12 weeks along and the whole Kardashian clan is very excited.
Little sis Khloe tweeted, "Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!!! LOVE is everything!!!!"
Momager and the future grandmother of Kanye West's baby, Kris Jenner, also took to Twitter to announce her excitement. "Im a happy girl !!!!!!!!! Wowza! Oh BABY BABY BABY."
But will the new addition be the latest member of the reality show "Keeping up with the Kardashians"?
According to TMZ, the couple have decided they will keep both the birth of their child and the first few months of his or her life away from the cameras.
But it sounds like the president of the E! network is hoping the baby will appear on the small screen sooner rather than later. "We look forward to sharing the joy as they prepare for more diapers, more bottles and without a doubt, more fabulous baby wear."
Hef finally walks down the aisle with runaway bride
Despite a rocky road to the alter, Hugh Hefner, 86, has finally married Crystal Harris, 26. The Playboy magnate and his bride said "I do" at the famous Playboy Mansion on New Year's Eve.
The pair were set to marry in June when Crystal got cold feet and called off the wedding.
"When the wedding didn't work out the first time, it was because of me. I needed to explore out there and take the time away [from Hef and the Mansion]. The time away really helped make me realize that where I'm meant to be is here with Hef," Crystal said. "Our relationship is better than it ever has been before."
