Two firefighters have been injured in a house fire in Lanham, officials said.

About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Prince George's County firefighters went to the burning two-story, single-family home in the 6300 block of Naval Avenue at the intersection of Hickory Hill Avenue. It took firefighters about half an hour to extinguish the blaze.

Two firefighters were injured when burning embers fell from above, burned through their protective hoods and made contact with their necks and backs. They were treated at a burn unit and released, county fire officials said.

One adult and two children were in the home at the time of the fire but were able to escape from the building safely. Fire loss is estimated at $150,000, and the family has been displaced.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire's cause was accidental, officials said.
