Here at Spotlight we couldn't be happier that D.C. has now embraced the craft beer movement happening across the country. And that only gets better once restaurants start offering beer-infused dishes, which is what Capitol City Brewing Co. is doing starting this week, along with a whole new menu featuring fresh, organic additions and some "enhancements" to its signature offerings.
Cap City, Washington's first brewpub since Prohibition, with two area locations, unveiled a newly crafted menu with more than 12 items added. Unique to the new menu is the Prohibition Porter beer bratwursts made with Cap City's signature handcrafted brew and served with some gnarly sauerkraut. The brewpub is also adding fresh, all-natural-fed chicken from local farms to its menu -- including using the organic poultry for its popular amber chicken sandwich, which is marinated in Amber Wave Ale.

We know there's snow on the ground, but just a couple days ago, it was blue skies and sunshine. That means spring is coming in D.C., bringing with it warm days and cravings for sweet, cool treats. Opening just in time is Dolcezza Artisanal Gelato's fourth location (2905 District Ave., Fairfax), this time offering its mouth-watering Argentine gelato to those living in the suburbs. Dunn Loring/Vienna/Merrifield -- we keep hearing different names for the area -- is home to a new arts and shopping area called Mosaic District that offers several stops for a fun afternoon shopping.
Dolcezza is introducing a new flavor special to the location: Virginia peanut butter stracciatella, featuring Virginia peanuts that are ground in-house to make peanut butter, which is then blended with local milk and cream to produce a salty, smoky gelato. Stracciatella, a dark, bitter chocolate, is then folded in resulting in an exquisite combination.
