Scandal brings Rezko back into public spotlight

The arrest of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has dragged presidential friend Antoin “Tony” Rezko back into the public spotlight.

Rezko, a convicted fixer for Blagojevich, entered the national political spotlight last year when it emerged that he had helped broker a sweetheart real estate deal for Barack Obama’s stately home on Chicago’s South Side.

Rezko’s name is prominent in charging documents filed in the Blagojevich case Monday.

Relying on the public record from his trial and statements Rezko made in a furious attempt to shave his upcoming sentence, prosecutors describe Rezko as Blagojevich’s key crony, shaking down high-dollar donors and making sure the governor’s fundraising mill ran at full speed.

Rezko was one of Obama’s earliest supporters. He donated $2,000 to Obama’s campaign for the Illinois Senate in the mid-1990s. When Obama decided to run for the U.S. Senate, Rezko was one of his first fundraisers. A few months after winning that Senate election, Obama and Rezko’s wife each bought a home on the South Side. Obama paid about $300,000 below the asking price, while Rezko’s wife paid full price. The Obamas would buy a strip of the Rezkos’ adjoining property for about $105,000 in 2006, just a few months before Tony Rezko was indicted on corruption charges related to his work for Blagojevich.

Obama would later call the Rezko deal “boneheaded” and return some $10,000 in donations that his old friend had given him.

I just wish this had happened before Election Day. Yes, we'll indeed experience change: From Clinton corruption to Illinois-style corruption

And Rezko should be brought back into the sport light... My youngest son is directly involved with Rezko. His mother's family are directly involved with Rezko and all of those surrounding the Governor in crimnial activities that are being blocked from surfacing. Obama is also linked to the family and their criminal activites. The family often bragged about being a CIA Asset in response to questions of why they aren't concerned about being prosecuted. There's mountains more for another time... Marty Didier Northbrook, IL

Is there any difference between the value of Ted Stevens house being advanced by someone that had business with the government and the value of Obama's house being advanced by someone that had business with the government? Atleast Verso did more for Alaskans. Resko's project are all bankrupt.

Just think what a duet Blago and Rezko will sing. With enough pressure, they can tell it all - Obama, Axelrod, Emmanuel, Jesse Jackson, Jesse Jackson Jr., Daley?, The Chicago machine?, Emil Jones?, The SEIU? The Cook County machine?. Illinois has just the place for them all at the ready - Thompson Correctional Facility. I realize that Thompson is a State of Illinois facility, but they can lease it to the Feds, keep jobs in Illinois, and keep environmental pollution from all of the relatives' driving on visiting day down to a minimum.

Whatever corruption there is in Illinois, Obama is tied in with it. He is corrupt to the core, corruption is a way of life for him, it is his driving force, his "operating system". He is crafty, and so far he` has the media, and about 52% of gullible Americans helping him avoid entrapment. But his day is coming, don't know when, but it will untimately "hang him". Lets hope it is before he is officially elected. His supporters are in for a rude awakening. They want so much to believe that he is "squeaky clean". What they haven't realized, is, with him, "what you see is NOT what you get".

Pretty obvious I would say that there's a lot more Obama has to tell when questioned by the FBI... if it winds up in court, that won't be good for the nation, congresspeople or anybody, old or new, in Washington politics. And, there's still the matter of the birth certificate as to where it came from and its legitimacy. ziggy

They're all idiots! No values whatsoever! Cheating everyone they can for the almighty dollar and what they can get for themselves, even if it means "screwing" everyone else. Yes! Obama too! He's no different!

I just can't believe that when something bad happens and it has something to do with Obama, his people says he said something or done something and when Obama says the opposite they all say I misspoke or if it is in a paper it is retracted. There was a pic in my paper of a big cess pool of a lot of Chicago people in the cess pool and OBAMA floating up above it. I still think he was born in Kenya and if the Electrates do their duty, that is, to make him prove he is a natural born citizen, they should not give him the electoral votes until he shows his real birth certificate. There is something wrong when he won't release any of his records and they put out a phoney birth certificate on the internet like the one that they posted. Our Contitution needs to be protected and its Electrates duty to do this.

As far as Obama goes, this will all be swept under the rug, just like the birth certificate issue has, so far. Main stream media will not touch it with a ten foot pole, as he is "the Messiah". lol

It seems we have the same-o, same-o polticians. But, of course, we get what we "pay for". So many people have blinders on when it comes to their politians that when I comment on just about any of them, my so-called friends get mad as hell. When will they wake up?

You are so right about that, Dee Jay, about Obama's birth certificate. Thankfully Phillip Berg vows not to let the matter drop. People don't seem to understand that Obama can be blackmailed over this. Check out www.obamacrimes.com and www.howobamagotelected.com. I thank God for www.worldnetdaily.com SUPREME COURT DO YOUR JOB AND MAKE OBAMA PRODUCE A GENUINE BIRTH CERTIFICATE!
