3 Minute Interview-Cohen

Courtney S. Cohen is a Los Angeles native living in Washington and working as an assistant to ABC News’ “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos. She is also the show’s celebrated “Green Room Girl,” posting pictures and notes about the people she meets on the ABCNEWS.com/thisweek blog.

So who are some of the guests you’ve met at your job?

Maureen Dowd, Newt Gingrich, Tom De Lay, Tom Daschle, Jack Reed, John McCain, Paul Krugman, Alan Greenspan, David Brooks, Ron Brownstein, Michael Gerson and Cynthia Tucker.

How did you get the idea to blog the Green Room?

There was a New York Times article about an employee at Google who had become notorious for taking pictures with guests at the Google campus. After a while, guests like Chris Rock were approaching the employee for a picture. We thought it would be an interesting addition to our Green Room Webcast that takes place with the roundtable after the show.

So what’s the Green Room like at ABC News? Are there snacks?

The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. Now that we broadcast from the Newseum, breakfast is a full buffet of quiche or frittata, bacon, potatoes with peppers, and bagels and lox.

Sounds yummy. What makes your job so fun?

That’s easy! My co-workers. The show has a small, tight-knit staff. We have so much fun every day. And George! He laughs at all my stupid jokes even when they’re not that funny.

I just love to see Courtney put a different cast to the show guests and commentators with her blogs. It makes the show more interesting for me.
