DC city workers blocked from Washington Examiner's Web site

By: Bill Myers

A computer screen displays the error message that District government employees received when trying to visit the Examiner's web site.

D.C. workers trying to log on to The Examiner's Web site for local news Friday morning got a note from the city technology office saying that "Access to this web page has been restricted."

Access to Web sites of rival news organizations, including the Washington Post, was free and clear.

The D.C. technology office is in turmoil with the arrests of three former employees all charged with bribery in a phony invoice/timesheet scandal. The Examiner was the first to report that accused ringleader Yusuf Acar talked about how open corruption was in the technology office.

Told about the restricted site, Fenty spokeswoman Mafara Hobson logged onto her computer to confirm she didn't have access.

"Okay," she said.

Hobson promised to provide an explanation. She did not do so by Friday evening.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! GOOD JOB Examiner! "The Examiner was the first to report that accused ringleader Yusuf Acar talked about how open corruption was in the technology office." Like I've alWAYS said, you will leave the Post in the dust. Now you have.

This is about as low as it comes. I guess freedom of speech and freedom of the press isn't quite so free after all. Especially if you have anything negative to say about this administration. Well those of us who do have access, will keep comenting like we need to. DC workers can just comment after dinner. It won't stop a thing!

Mar 21, 2009

Or comment after breakfast! That way, the Administration will see it...DURING THE DAY

What this indicates is that there is an ingrained attitude in the District government of "entitlement corruption" and how dare the Examiner of any other news organization bring it out or write about it? Wouldn't this be the way a criminal mafia keeps the public informed? Oh wait, Mayor Fenty talks a good game, but the Examiner must have gotten closer to home plate then they realized.

Everyday the Fenty administration reminds me more of the Bush administration. They are petty, unethical, immature and corrupt. When they are at fault, they find blame in others and when when wrong doing is exposed, they attempt to silence those who dare speak out. And we trust this administration to fairly determine the employment status of 800 workers...WOW

DC (Dysfunctional City), you have to pay these people off, they are pretty much all crooks.

I agree somewhat with the Natasha posting in that the way the Fenty Administration has managed is with pettiness, immaturity, temper tantrums, and negligent to non-existent management skills. They have created a disorganized structure, made very bad appointments, continue to place people in positions of authority who should never be allowed to manage anyone or anything, and they are doing what the previous people did - placing blame on others and silencing those whose words they do not want to hear. The 800 employees slated for termination are truly in trouble because the process will not be done fairly. Older workers most assuredly will be targeted (as they have been from the very beginning) purely on age. Someone needs to bring a class action suit against this administration for age discrimination and abuse of authority.

Truth hurts the Fenty Administration and the Examiner now knows truthfully speaking how evil Fenty is with his own employees. No need to elaborate on the evil bestowed on the public and public money he wastes it just angers me and I do pray Andy Fenty fails this week or next month or at least sooner.

THAT'S RIGHT DO WANT YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET ALL THE BUTTS OUT OF THERE. SHUT THE WEBSITE DOWN FOR AS LONG AS NEEDED. I CAN GO OUTSIDE MY OFFICE TO GET A PAPER.

Mar 23, 2009

That's typical of DC Goverment; they don't want employee's to tell the real scoop, meaning what's really going on? It's call keeping their dirty laundry somewhat sanitized.

Hey Conspiracy Wingnuts: Notice when you go to DCExaminer.com it redirects you to WashingtonExaminer.com now? It didn't do that before 3/20. Yea, the Examiner is the one that made the change that caused the site to be temporarily blocked for DCGov (and others) because the internet content filtering database didn't have a valid entry for WashingtonExaminer.com yet. I know, I know...not nearly as exciting as ranting about how its vast Fenty conspiracy...so please continue with your rants.

What? Are you saying that criticizing any institution that happens to be black is racist?

As the new homeowner, Nordby was required to commit at least 300 hours of sweat equity in the painting contractors. She did so by helping to install the insulation; doing house painting, staining and cleaning; delivering some meals for the volunteer workers and selecting features like the flooring, cupboards and house painters and stain colors.
