Metro, roads face closures on Columbus Day weekend

Visitors to the nation's capital, be warned: The District of Columbia will face multiple traffic disruptions over the long Columbus Day weekend, including Metrorail and road closures.
Metro's Green Line will be closed between the Gallery Place-Chinatown and Navy Yard stops beginning at 10:30 p.m. Friday and ending at 5 a.m. Tuesday. Though there will be no Green Line service at L'Enfant Plaza, the Blue and Orange Lines will continue normally through the stop.
The Yellow Line will be rerouted to follow the Orange and Blue lines between Pentagon and Stadium-Armory. Metro will offer free shuttle buses between Anacostia, Navy Yard and Gallery Place-Chinatown. The shuttles will run both with and without stops at the stations in between.
Metro suggests using the Convention Center-SW Waterfront route of the Circulator bus for north-south travel.
Meanwhile, activities downtown will shut down streets. On Saturday, the Festival of the Building Arts will close F Street Northwest between Fourth and Fifth streets from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Taste of Georgetown, also on Saturday, will shut down Wisconsin Avenue between K and M streets from midnight until 8 p.m.
On Sunday, the National Equality March will begin at noon at McPherson Square and end at 2 p.m. at the Capitol. There will be rolling closures along the route, which will begin on 15th Street Northwest and eventually will reach the west side of the Capitol.
The Bike for the Heart will close F Street Northwest between Sixth and Seventh streets from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. The route also will mean rolling closures of Pennsylvania and Constitution avenues.
Because of the bike ride, the free Metro shuttle will run from Navy Yard to L'Enfant Plaza from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A free shuttle bus from Gallery Place-Chinatown to Metro Center will be offered.
