WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court is refusing to block Virginia from executing Larry Bill Elliott, who is set to die Tuesday in the state's electric chair.
The justices offered no comment Monday in turning down Elliott's request to halt his execution.
Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and John Paul Stevens voted to stop the execution.
Elliott would be the first person to die of electrocution in the United States this year and in Virginia since 2006.
He was given the death penalty for gunning down a couple in northern Virginia to win the love of a former stripper.
