Authorities are trying to determine whether a bank-robbing couple ripped off multiple banks or just the one they have been accused of trying to rob last week.
According to Fairfax County police, 50-year-old Zoghanno Holmes is accused of being the getaway driver for her boyfriend, 37-year-old Marlon Negassa. The two were arrested last week after two men knocked a gun from Negassa’s hand and wrestled him to the ground while he was trying to rob a BB&T Bank in Herndon, police said.
Holmes was found near the bank robbery scene, and investigators determined she was driving the getaway car for Negassa, police said.
After they were taken into custody, Holmes told police that they had committed eight other robberies together, court documents said. Police are trying to verify the details of her claims.
The bank they are accused of targeting Wednesday at 13300 Franklin Farm Road has been robbed at least twice in the last several months.
Fairfax County police are already searching for the Hoodie Bandit, who has robbed at least six BB&T Bank branches since late November. That man is known for wearing a blue or black hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask. He also carries a handgun.
When the two men wrestled Negassa to the ground, he was wearing a rubber mask, police said. Authorities said they did not believe he was behind the robberies committed by the Hoodie Bandit.
