Virginia State Police say a Virginia Tech student who went missing last month was spotted hitchhiking after she left a Metallica concert.

Authorities have been searching for 20-year-old Morgan Dana Harrington since she disappeared following the Charlottesville concert Oct. 17. The student was separated from friends when she left the concert to smoke a cigarette and was denied re-entry. She told them she would try to find a way home in a voice mail message.

On Friday police said they believed Harrington was spotted hitchhiking near the concert.

As a Mother my heart breaks for the parents of this young girl. Ihave read with interest the accounts of the disappearance of Morgan. It seems all of this heartache could have been prevented had the girl been allowed inside the concert. Why would she have been locked out? Didn't security stamp her hand...or didn't she have a stub indicating she had paid for her ticket?
The band has stepped up to the plate with a large reward. What have the promotors of this concert and security done to help find this girl? Noone knows I suppose why she left the concert..however it is my feeling she should have been allowed back in.
