Authorities are looking for a Falls Church man who has been missing since February and who recently contacted friends through a series of letters sent from the D.C. area.

Police believe that Leif J. Sherry, 28, is distraught, is a danger to himself and needs immediate attention. On Saturday, Sherry mailed 10 letters from the District of Columbia and Montgomery County to friends throughout the U.S. Anyone who has seen him or his car is asked to contact police immediately.

Sherry is listed as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches, 150 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He may be driving a blue 2005 Toyota Matrix with Virginia tags of KHD-3316.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Detective Bob Murphy at 703-246-7857 or the Fairfax County police at 703-691-2131 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
