Feds: Springfield cocaine trafficking ring busted

Federal authorities have charged nine Virginia and Maryland residents with running a cocaine trafficking ring in Springfield and Prince George's County.

Investigators with the FBI, Fairfax and Prince George's counties spent more than a year listening in on phone calls, and using satellite and cell phone technology to track the alleged members of the ring. All nine are in police custody.

Md. husband guilty of killing boy in Japan

A federal jury on Thursday convicted a Glen Burnie man for the murder of his 8-year-old stepson while the family was stationed in Japan.

Roberto E. DeLeon, 27, faces up to life in prison when he's sentenced Jan. 6.

Prosecutors said DeLeon, whose wife was in the U.S. Air Force, fatally punched Jordan Peterson in the stomach. Jordan was 3 feet 11 and weighed 52 pounds.

Bowie drug dealer gets 10 years

A Bowie man was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison for conspiring to distribute large quantities of cocaine.

According to his guilty plea, from September to December 2008, Reyes-Sotero obtained more than 20 pounds of cocaine from a co-conspirator.

When police pulled him over they found five bricks of cocaine in a hidden compartment. At his house, police seized multiple pounds of cocaine, digital scales, 13 cell phones, $6,000 and a .38-caliber revolver.

Police seek more clues in shooting

Montgomery police are asking the public to help solve a Bethesda shooting.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m., Oct. 8, in the 6800 block of Millwood Road.

A 54-year-old man had pulled into his garage when a a masked man appeared and shot him at least once.

Police said a small, dark car was seen traveling with its lights off on Millwood Road around the time of the shooting.
