Mouyad Mahmoud Darwish was sentenced to 15 months in prison for not including his employment with an Iraqi government office in immigration papers, prosecutors said.
Darwish was an accountant and driver for the Iraqi Interests Section located inside the Algerian Embassy in the District between 2000 and 2003, authorities said. But on immigration documents he claimed to only work for Saubhe Jassim Al-Dellemy, at Al-Dellemy's Gourmet Shish Kebab in Laurel.
Darwish's job with Iraq was discovered following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, when U.S. soldiers found documents relating to Darwish in Iraq, prosecutors said.
Ex-State Department employee sentenced for passport peekingA former U.S. State Department employee was sentenced to one year of probation for illegally accessing 75 celebrity passport application files, prosecutors said.
William Celey, is among six State Department employees who pleaded guilty to peeking at passports. The 28-year-old, and others, were discovered after authorities uncovered unauthorized access to passports of then-presidential candidates Barack Obama, John McCain and Hillary Clinton in March 2008.

Daryl Haynor worked for an unnamed accounting firm in Tysons Corner and John Flask for an unnamed Vienna law firm, an indictment filed late last week said.
35 years in prison for Hyattsville bouncer killerAaron Roberts was sentenced to 35 years in prison for gunning down a bouncer in August 2008.
The 31-year-old Roberts wasn't allowed into Mustang nightclub by bouncer Gregory Barron Jr. because he refused to allow Barron to pat him down, prosecutors said. When Barron took a cigarette break later in the evening of Aug. 28, 2008, Roberts shot him several times and fled.
