killed in fire at gas station

A Germantown man was burned to death after his sport utility vehicle caught fire at a gas station, Maryland State Police said. Around 4 a.m. Wednesday, a Frederick County sheriff's deputy found 26-year-old Ainsley Gordon Jr. on fire in a parking lot near the Exxon station and the SUV and fuel pumps aflame at the gas station. Gordon was flown to a hospital where he died.

Competency review delayed
for accused museum killer

The psychiatric evaluation for the 89-year-old white supremacist who killed a guard at the Holocaust museum has been delayed because of chronic ailments, prison officials said. A federal judge in D.C. granted an eight-week extension for the evaluation of James von Brunn after the prison officials said they were unable to conduct tests because of his ailments. Von Brunn was shot at the museum after he allegedly gunned down guard Stephen T. Johns.

Police: Infant eats heroin

A Fairfax County couple has been arrested on child abuse charges after allegedly allowing their 5-month-old son to ingest heroin. Marilyn Fischl, 36, and Rafael Preston, 30, face felony child abuse and neglect charges, police said. The infant picked up a packet of heroin and put it in his mouth, officials said. The boy has recovered, police said. The incident was first reported by The Washington Post.
