This week's Mainstream Media Scream features MSNBC's Chris Matthews on a rant about the racist Tea Party. To Christopher Parker, author of the book, "Change They Can't Believe In: The Tea Party and Reactionary Politics in America," Matthews asked:

"Is it sort of a resumption of the Old South, of the way things were before the Civil War for example? Is it like that old dreamy nostalgia you get in the old movies, you know, Gone With the Wind? Is it that kind of America they want to bring back or what? When there were no gays, where blacks were slaves, Mexicans were in Mexico. I mean, is this what they want?"

His guest, Parker, responded, "That's precisely the case, Chris."

Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our pick: "I dream of a time when Matthews tires of smearing an entire grassroots groundswell as he puts everyone into two camps: The enlightened who, like him, get tingles over the brilliant President Obama, and those who don't and thus he feels obligated to discredited as racists."

Rating: Five out of five screams.
