A Shenandoah County man has been arrested for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Fairfax City, police said.

A warrant charged 22-year-old Malik Tayvon Battle with felony hit and run, according to Fairfax City police.

On Aug. 18, 52-year-old James Ralph Davidson was struck by a 2010 Jeep Compass while he was crossing Fairfax Boulevard in the 9800 block. Battle was driving the vehicle and didn't stop, police said. Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arlington police located the vehicle involved in the crash a short time later.

Battle was apprehended in the District by D.C. police. On Sept. 28, Fairfax City detectives took him to the Adult Detention Center, where he was ordered held without bond.
