Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., defended his colleague Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, after reading articles in the press that were critical of his role in the fight to defund Obamacare.
"Mike Lee is one of the highest-quality people that I have ever interacted with in anything I've ever done — politics, life — that's number one," Rubio said Thursday night in an interview with conservative radio host Mark Levin.
Rubio said that Lee was a principled, dedicated public official who wasn't craving personal fame.
"I wish some of these people would take the time to get to know Mike Lee because Mike Lee is one of the finest human beings that I've ever interacted with and certainly one of the best public servants I've ever been around," he said.
Lee has been the subject of several critical articles in the press as chatter has surfaced from establishment Republicans who are considering a primary challenge.
