D.C. Councilman Marion Barry has been released from the hospital.
Barry, 77, was admitted to Howard University Hospital on Tuesday after his blood sugar dropped to a low level. Barry was diagnosed with diabetes about 20 years ago, and he said on Twitter after his release that his medical team had decided to alter the medicines he uses to manage his condition.
Barry spokeswoman LaToya Foster said that Howard discharged Barry on Wednesday afternoon and that he had returned to his Southeast D.C. home to rest.SClB
Barry, the city's longest-serving mayor, was re-elected to the D.C. Council in November.
