Mainstream Scream: Matthews compares Hillary Clinton to FDR
This week's Mainstream Media Scream features MSNBC's Chris Matthews, who on his show "Hardball" seemed to compare Hillary Rodham Clinton to Franklin D. Roosevelt, "probably the best president we ever had."
From Thursday night's show:
"I think that [Bloomberg TV] focus group is fascinating. Because, it seems to me there is something -- Franklin Roosevelt, probably the best president we ever had, certainly in the 20th century, was very secretive and manipulative. And we still thought he was a good president. So if Hillary Clinton is secretive, we know that, is that going to help us get any further here?"
Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our pick: "Leave it to Chris Matthews to compare Hillary Clinton to FDR. Only he could see greatness in secretive and manipulative politicians. Quite the standard for a supposed journalist."
Rating: Three out of five screams.
