Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said on Friday that special counsel Robert Mueller is "going to win" in his investigation into Russia interfering in the 2016 election and its possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

During an interview on MSNBC, Waters, who for months has called for the impeachment of President Trump, brushed off concerns about the impartiality of Mueller's operation, a team which includes members who have donated to Democrats.

"No, he's not compromised," she said. "As a matter of fact, he's got a sterling reputation."

The Democrat says that she trusts Mueller and think his staffing decisions will bring in the "expertise" that can find the "truth."

"Mueller is going to win," which elicited a laugh from host Chris Hayes.

This week, it was reported that Mueller has impaneled multiple grand juries in relation to his Russia probe, indicating that his efforts are ramping up.
