Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat and one of the House's staunchest foes of President Trump, mocked Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Twitter Friday following a report that President Trump lashed out at him for allowing the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.

"To Jeff Sessions, how does it feel to be dragged & humiliated? Now you know how the African Americans you disrespected feel," the California Democrat tweeted.

According to the story, Trump "berated" Sessions after the Justice Department did not block the appointment of a special counsel to investigate allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Democrats are no fans of Sessions, a former longtime U.S. Senator representing Alabama. They tried to delay his confirmation earlier this year, and he faced disputed allegations of racism from his days as a U.S. attorney in Alabama.

Democrats oppose Sessions' voter fraud commission, which they say aims to disenfranchise minority voters.
