During a press conference today, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino gave a short, tough speech in reaction to the Boston Marathon bombings yesterday. After thanking law enforcement and emergency workers, Menino reminded reporters that Boston was a tough city.

“This is a bad day for Boston but I think that if we pull together we’ll get through it,” Menino said. “We’re a strong city. A lot of people willing to work together to make this a better place for all the people, and so, as we gather here today with all our officials, let’s say Boston will overcome.”

Menino spoke from a wheelchair as he was still recovering from a surgery on a broken leg – an injury that he sustained last week.
