I have never eaten at a McDonald’s in France. But evidently a lot of French men and women do. Business Insider reports that France is McDonald’s most profitable country after the United States. So much for all the French cuisine snobs who lament the presence of McDonald’s in la belle France, though it must be added that McDonald’s has evidently adapted its menu to French tastes and French products, including Charolais beef, local cheeses and French fries from potatoes grown in France. Interestingly, while France’s economy languishes under the burden of an overlarge state, McDonald’s continues to hire and train thousands of employees there. Maybe I should stop by a McDonald’s if I’m in need for a quick meal the next time I’m in France.
