Media watchdog NewsBusters celebrates 10-year anniversary

The right-leaning NewsBusters website, which seeks to identify liberal bias in the news media, celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Monday, honoring one of its most prolific bloggers who died of cancer in 2014.

At a reception in Washington, D.C., to mark the occasion, NewsBusters awarded the first annual Noel Sheppard Media Blogger of the Year award. It went to Mollie Hemingway, a frequent media critic and senior editor at the conservative Federalist online magazine.

The award is intended for a conservative writer "who best reflects the spirit of Noel Sheppard's energetic blog postings in pursuit of exposing the news media's liberal political agenda."

NewsBusters is a subsidiary of the Media Research Center, which is chaired by Brent Bozell, an influential figure in Republican politics.
