First lady Melania Trump passed out stuffed eagles to children at the Beijing Zoo on Friday morning, local time.
When Trump arrived at the Beijing Zoo, she was welcomed by a group of schoolchildren holding Chinese and American flags, according to press pool reports.
Another group of children also performed songs for Trump.
After the performance, she handed out the stuffed eagles and posed for a photo before heading to the Panda House gift shop, where she signed a Panda print.
President Trump announced Thursday night he was heading to Vietnam, while the first lady would visit the zoo in Beijing and the Great Wall of China.
I am leaving China for #APEC2017 in Vietnam. @FLOTUS Melania is staying behind to see the zoo, and of course, the Great WALL of China before going to Alaska to greet our AMAZING troops.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 10, 2017
Trump was in China as part of a nearly two-week tour through Asia. Trump is scheduled to attend an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Vietnam and a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in the Philippines during the trip.
