First lady Melania Trump was involved in choosing the next U.S. ambassador to Slovenia, according to a Tuesday report.
Kelly Roberts, a hotel owner from California, is expected to be announced as President Trump's nominee.
The first lady, who was born in Slovenia, was given dossiers of possible candidates, New York Magazine reported. Trump liked Roberts because of her business experience.
Roberts and her husband donated more than $1.2 million to Republican candidates and committees in 2016. She gave $50,000 to Trump's Great America PAC in October.
Trump's spokeswoman did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.
