Melania Trump said Friday the year since her husband won the presidential election has been "very busy" as she has taken on new responsibilities as first lady.
"Well, it's my honor to be a first lady of the United States, and it was a very busy year," Trump told CNN during a brief interview at the Great Wall of China on Friday evening local time. "We love to live in Washington, we have a very busy life. It's exciting, as well."
The former fashion model and immigrant from Slovenia said she is most excited to do more for children during the rest of President Trump's term.
"I'm looking forward to working on behalf of the children," she added. "It's a lot of things that we need to take care of, and a lot of responsibilities. And it's all part of being the first lady."
The first lady declared thwarting cyberbullying and children's issues as her focus. She regularly visits children's hospitals when accompanying her husband to events around the U.S.
Trump visited China as part of President Trump's 13-day trip to five Asian countries, with additional time spent in Hawaii and Alaska.
Trump, 47, visited the panda exhibit at the Beijing Zoo and later toured the Great Wall Friday evening as the sun set.
"This visit to China is something I will never forget," Trump said in a statement. "President Xi and Madame Peng were gracious hosts, and I was honored to participate in many cultural experiences and personal conversations. I believe both of our countries made great strides during this trip, and I look forward to future visits."
