First lady Melania Trump will be joining her husband on his first trip abroad as president later this month, according to the White House.

A spokeswoman for the first lady confirmed to the Washington Examiner that she would be traveling with the president "for the entire trip."

"Of course she will be joining her husband for the entire trip, and yes, she will be making several public appearances," spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said.

President Trump is traveling to Israel, Italy and Saudi Arabia before he attends the NATO G-7 meetings in Brussels at the end of May.

"We chose these three places because we really wanted to focus on how we can unite all the different countries and all the different religions in the fight against intolerance and radicalization," a senior administration official said last week.

While in Italy, Trump will meet with Pope Francis.
