Melania Trump's pick for U.S. ambassador to Slovenia, the first lady's home country, has withdrawn her name from consideration, according to a new report.
Kelly Roberts, a hotel owner from California, took herself out of consideration for the position because of issues with the divestiture of her assets, Politico reported Tuesday.
Roberts had not yet been nominated for the role, which requires Senate confirmation. She sent her notice of withdrawal before starting ambassador training.
Trump liked Roberts because of her business experience. Roberts, however, had originally asked to be the ambassador of countries besides Slovenia. She agreed to accept the job at Trump's request.
Roberts and her husband donated more than $1.2 million to Republican candidates and committees in 2016. She gave $50,000 to Trump's Great America PAC in October.
