Metro is hosting an event Wednesday afternoon to raise awareness of sexual harassment and assault on its trains and buses.

Metro police and employees will join anti-harassment advocates at the Anacostia Metro station from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to pass out fliers, T-shirts and bracelets to encourage people to report sexual harassment and discourage others from engaging in it.

Metro started an ad campaign last year to combat harassment, as well as a system to receive complaints, after activists told the D.C. Council that harassment was a frequent problem on Metro trains.
