PERKINSTON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will receive $599,000 over five years for scholarships in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The funds are coming from the National Science Foundation.

MGCCC president Dr. Mary S. Graham says the money will provide $2,800 scholarships to 37 students annually. Students will eligible for the grant for two years.

Graham says the program will help students enter those fields of work.

During the five-year grant period, the goal is to prepare 185 students for transfer to university programs or job placement.
