Sen. Mike Lee is frustrated with Republicans who are criticizing each other and not President Obama, saying the GOP needs to be “focusing our arrows” on the chief executive.
The Utah Republican's comment to Fox News host Sean Hannity came in response to a question about New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's recent criticisms of Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rand Paul, R-Ky.
“We need to be focusing our arrows on the president,” Lee said. “He’s lied to the American people. Those lies are harming millions of people, and it’s time for us to hold him accountable.”
Lee was referring to Obama’s oft-repeated claim that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan. Period.”
It has become clear since healthcare.gov's Oct. 1 launch that Obama knew or should have known that the promise could not be kept.
Lee also brought up the government shutdown once again, saying it was Obama who caused the crisis.
“It is the president who shut down this government,” Lee said. “It is the president who refused to negotiate even one single inch. It was the president who refused to allow the government to be funded unless he got everything he wanted, including full funding for Obamacare implementation,” Lee said.
