Vice President Mike Pence, second lady Karen Pence, and members of President Trump's Cabinet are traveling to southeastern Texas Thursday to survey the damage from Hurricane Harvey and meet with people impacted by the storm.

Pence will visit Corpus Christi and Rockport, the area where Hurricane Harvey first made landfall over the weekend as a Category 4 storm, his office said.

Joining the vice president are Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, who previously served as the governor of Texas, Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin, and acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke, according to CNN.

Perry's wife, Anita, will also travel with the vice president.

Pence's visit comes two days after Trump and first lady Melania Trump traveled to Corpus Christi and Austin to meet with local and state officials about rescue and recovery efforts.

Trump decided not to visit Houston, which has been hit the hardest by catastrophic flooding, to ensure resources weren't diverted away from recovery efforts there.

The White House said the president will return to Texas on Saturday and may visit parts of Louisiana. It's not yet known which parts of Texas Trump will visit during his second trip.
