Prince George's County police are looking for a missing University of Maryland student who takes medication for depression.

David Johnathan Scherr, 20, was last seen at 2 p.m. on Dec. 19 near the campus of the College Park school, police said. Since then, he has not been in contact with his family and friends.

"The parents are obviously concerned," county police spokesman Lt. Bill Alexander said.

Scherr takes medicine for depression, and police believe that he does not have access to the drugs because the medication has been found at the student's off-campus residence, Alexander said.

University of Maryland police are assisting Prince George's County police with their investigation, said police spokesman Capt. Marc Limansky.

"Whatever they're asking us for, we're helping." he said.

Scherr is described as white, is 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a purple Baltimore Ravens shirt and white plaid shorts.

The missing student may be driving a black 2013 Ford Escape with Maryland tags 3AX4875.

Anyone with information on Scherr's whereabouts can call the Prince George's County Police Department's District I Investigative Section at 301-699-2601.
