Eric Cantor's no good, terrible week continues as he announced late Wednesday afternoon he will step down as House majority leader on July 31.

The Virginia Republican, and number two member in the House of Representatives, lost in a stunning primary to Tea Party-backed candidate David Brat on Tuesday. House GOP members will select a new majority leader on June 19.

The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs will take up VA health care again tomorrow following those reports out of Phoenix that veterans died while waiting for care. At 9:15 a.m. today, the committee will examine the bureaucratic barriers to care for veterans.

At a House hearing Wednesday, FBI Director James Comey said the bureau is looking into the Phoenix problem.

President Obama is in town today, however, that won't last long. He and the first lady are headed to California this weekend for the commencement address at the University of California-Irvine. Also on the trip, and perhaps more importantly, the president will attend another fundraising event. This one in Los Angeles.
