Amid the ongoing crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border President Obama will meet with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to discuss immigration reform. The president will be joined by Vice President Joe Biden and will discuss ways to shore up the Southwest border that has seen an influx in unaccompanied children crossing from Mexico.
On Capitol Hill today lawmakers will hear from Acting Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Sloan Gibson. Gibson, who took over for Eric Shinseki, will discuss the departments health care system. Congressional lawmakers will also tackle immigration.
Second quarter fundraising numbers are in and Kentucky's Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes was the big winner. Grimes brought in north of $4 million to set a fundraising record in Kentucky. Money seems to remain no object in Texas as both Republican Greg Abbott and Wendy Davis continue to stockpile cash.
