A 14-year-old boy and his mother were killed in a car crash on the Capital Beltway early Monday morning, Maryland State Police reported.

Just before 1 a.m., 39-year-old Toykia Kenya Keys and her son, Kamany Love, were traveling north on the outer loop of the Beltway when their Kia Rio rear-ended a tractor-trailer near St. Barnabas Road in Oxon Hill.

Both Keys and her son were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Police said their initial investigation revealed that Keys was speeding and driving aggressively, but their investigation is not complete. There were no indications of alcohol or drug use, they said.
