The USCIS is easing the rules for Filipino nationals to “establish or maintain” lawful status in the wake of the typhoon that ravaged that country. Last Friday, the agency announced that it would allow overstayed Filipino nonimmigrants to change or extend status, expedite requests by Filipino F-1 students to get employment authorization, and expedite the processing of family petitions, among other measures.
