House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., had some sharp words for Russian President Vladimir Putin and the New York Times, which published the Russian leader's criticism of American foreign policy.

"Vladimir Putin is not in a strong constitutional democracy where people have their say, so he comes here and has his say, but, it has to have some fidelity to fact," Pelosi said during her weekly press briefing.

"It's, I guess, a lobbyist who gets him that big space in the New York Times," she added.

After paraphrasing by saying "we're all God's children," Pelosi suggested that Putin should apply that rule when it applies to gay and lesbian Russians. She also rejected his statement that the United States is not an exceptional nation.
