Politico’s James Hohmann gets a sneak peak of Sen. Mitch McConnell’s first campaign ad, criticizing ads attacking his wife.

“You’ve seen the ads attacking my husband,” Chao explains. “As Mitch McConnell’s wife, I’ve learned to expect them. Now, far-left special interests are also attacking my ethnicity, even attacking Mitch’s patriotism, because he’s married to me.”

The attacks came from Progress Kentucky, a liberal super PAC that began tweeting a series of remarks about McConnell’s wife’s ethnicity.

“This woman has the ear of @mcconnellpress — she’s his #wife. May explain why your job moved to #China!” read one of the tweets.
