The chief of staff and communications director for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley both resigned due to "family concerns," Haley announced in a tweet late Wednesday.

Chief of staff Steven Groves and communications director Jonathan Wachtel have stepped down from their posts at the United Nations.

"Thanks for your concern. Both Jonathan&Steve have recently encountered family concerns. They will always be a part of the team & dear friends," Haley tweeted at two reporters.

Both men were new to Haley, only starting with her since she left the South Carolina governor's office and moved to New York for her U.N. job.

Last weekend, Haley rallied 14 other nations in the U.N. Security Council to unanimously vote in support for sanctions against North Korea for its continued ICBM tests.

Groves previously worked at the Washington-based Heritage Foundation think tank and Wachtel had reported and produced for Fox News.
