President Barack Obama's disapproval rating jumped three points over the weekend to 49 percent, according to the latest presidential approval rating from Gallup. This is the highest disapproval rating for Obama since October 2012, shortly before the November election that won him a second term.

Obama's approval rating has dropped slightly since the scandals surrounding his administration have grown, from the lower 50s earlier this year to hovering around the upper 40s now. He is currently underwater, with 49 percent disapproving his performance as president and 45 percent approving.

The scandals are having only a minor effect on Obama's popularity, despite 53 percent of Americans disapproving of the government surveillance programs that Obama intensified under his administration. While his overall popularity remains steady, a recent Pew Research poll show 51 percent of Americans disapprove of Obama's handling of privacy and civil liberties.
