President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will attend a memorial service Thursday for the victims of a fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.
The ceremony is being held at Baylor University. The first family had already planned a trip to Texas for the unveiling of George W. Bush’s presidential library in Dallas.
At least 14 people were killed by the massive explosion, and more than 200 were injured.
Obama mentioned the small Texas town, located north of Waco, during a press conference last week that centered on the capture of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.
“I want them to know they are not forgotten,” Obama said at the time.
The White House did not say whether Obama would speak at the service.
