President Obama got in some golf Friday, the day after hosting wounded warriors at the White House for a BBQ on the south lawn and 4th of July fireworks viewing.
It was the 126th time during his presidency that Obama has played golf, according to the website Obamagolfcounter.com.
The outing came amid violent unrest in Egypt where the military there opened fire on supporters of ousted President Morsi, killing three people and wounding dozens more. The Muslim Brotherhood's leader told supporters that protests would continue until Morsi is re-installed as president.
Clad in a white polo shirt and shorts, Obama left the White House with a large briefing book in hand, apparently to read on the roughly 20-minute trip to Joint Base Andrews. He spent the scorching, 91-degree afternoon on the Air Force Base course with longtime friends Marty Nesbitt and Eric Whittaker, according to pool reporters assigned to cover Obama's Friday activities who were holding in a food court on the base.
Later in the afternoon, Obama is scheduled to board the Marine One helicopter for a trip to Camp David, where he will spend the weekend.
Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden are in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, with no public events scheduled for Friday.
