Finally, President Obama has found an anonymous quote he likes.
In looking for ways to mock the Republican opposition to Obamacare, the president dug deep into his bag of quotes during a speech in suburban Maryland to find a goodie from an unnamed “state representative” who had compared the health reform law to an old act that let slave owners get their runaway slaves back.
From the pool report of Obama’s speech at Prince Georges Community College in Largo:
"You had a state representative somewhere say that it's as destructive to personal and individual liberty as the Fugitive Slave Act. (Boos.) Think about that. Affordable health care is worse than a law that lets slaveowners get their runaway slaves back. (Boos.) I mean, these are quotes. I'm not making this stuff up."Paul Bedard, The Washington Examiner's "Washington Secrets" columnist, can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
