President Obama, on Thursday, reminded Egyptians that it was time for Egyptians to stop blaming the United States for the violence in Egypt.

“America can not determine the future of Egypt. That’s a task for the Egyptian people,” Obama said, reminding the world that the United States had not taken sides with a political party or figure in the Egyptian conflict.

“I know it’s tempting inside of Egypt to blame the United States, or the West, or some other outside actor for what’s gone wrong,” he continued.

Obama explained that both political supporters and opponents of former Egyptian President Morsi accused him of supporting the other side.

“That kind of approach will do nothing to help Egyptians achieve the future that they deserve,” he asserted.
