White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest announced Thursday that President Obama would travel to California next week for a speech about the economy at DreamWorks Animation.
"The American motion pictures and television industry is a growing industry and continues to create thousands of jobs all across the country," Earnest said.
Earnest didn't mention that Obama will be attending three fundraisers during his visit, as reported by Deadline, with celebrities Magic Johnson, Haim Saban and Marta Kauffman.
The events are expected to raise more than $2 million for the Democratic party.
DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg is a major Democrat fundraiser who not only donated and hosted fundraisers for both of Obama's presidential campaigns, but also served as a campaign superbundler.
Katzenberg and his wife also donated a total of $100,000 to Obama's 2009 inauguration fund. He also gave $3 million to the pro-Obama super-PAC Priorities USA Action during the 2012 election season.
