One person is dead and 10 others are wounded after a man drove a van into worshippers exiting a mosque in north London just after midnight Sunday evening.

The attack at Finsbury Park mosque is being investigated by English authorities as a terrorist act, according to multiple reports.

London police arrested an unnamed 48-year-old white man on suspicion of attempted murder. The man was taken to the hospital and will undergo a psychological evaluation.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said the person who died at the scene was receiving first aid for a separate matter and it's not clear if his death was a direct result of the attack.

Since the beginning of the year, terrorists have carried out attacks at a Manchester arena, London Bridge and Westminster Bridge. However, the Islamic State has not claimed credit for this attack.

The Muslim Council, Great Britain's largest Muslim umbrella group, first shared news about the incident on Twitter.
